MagneRide Delete Module (OBD-Based Shock Simulator)

The OBD/SS Classic is the definitive MagneRide delete module for GM vehicles equipped with Magnetic Ride Control. It is designed for applications where the factory electronic shocks are being removed and replaced with traditional shocks or coilovers, while eliminating suspension warnings, diagnostic trouble codes, and speed limiters caused by a MagneRide delete.

The module functions as an OBD-based shock simulator, communicating directly on the vehicle CAN network to suppress MagneRide shock DTCs that appear when the factory magnetic shocks are unplugged or removed. Because the logic stays inside the vehicle, there are no external resistors, no exposed hardware under the chassis, and no calibration or ride height trim procedures required.

The OBD/SS Classic does not suppress AutoRide, Automatic Level Control (ALC), or ride height sensor diagnostic codes. If the vehicle is lifted or lowered and the ride height sensors cannot be reconnected, Ride Height Simulators are required to prevent suspension faults.

For vehicles equipped with AutoRide, the ALC module and air compressor must remain powered and functional. However, the factory air shocks can still be removed by rerouting the air lines to back-feed the compressor, allowing it to pass its self-check. If the vehicle will continue towing 2,000 lbs or more, we strongly recommend retaining the rear air shocks and replacing only the front shocks.

OBD-Based MagneRide Shock Simulation

The OBD/SS Classic functions as an OBD-based shock simulator, suppressing MagneRide shock faults when factory electronic shocks are removed.

Direct CAN Network Communication

The module communicates directly on the vehicle CAN network, keeping suspension logic satisfied without external hardware.

No External Resistors or Harness Mods

All electronics remain inside the vehicle, eliminating exposed resistors, underbody wiring, and common failure points.

No Calibration or Trim Procedures

Installation requires no scan tool, ride height trim, or post-install calibration.

Power-Efficient Design

Automatically powers down 5 seconds after detecting no CANbus activity, preventing battery drain.

Clean MagneRide Delete Solution

The ShockSims OBD/SS MagneRide Delete Module offers a straightforward solution for GM vehicle owners aiming to replace factory MagneRide suspension systems. This plug-and-play device connects directly to your vehicle's OBD-II port.

Permanently silence your suspension fault codes

Bypassing the Suspension Control Module (SCM) to eliminate "Service Suspension" warnings, speed limiters, and Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs).

Remove Speed Limiter When DTC is Active

Unlock full vehicle performance by automatically disabling the speed limiter when the Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) is active.

Install Guides

Quick Start Guide

  • Step 1:
Plug the OBD/SS Classic into the vehicles OBDII Port.

Quick Start Guide with Ride Height Sensors

If you are modifying your vehicle's height, you may no longer be able to reconnect the factory ride height sensors. You can replace just the Front Struts or the Rear Shocks or both. If you decide to replace either later on, you can leave the OBD/SS Classic connected.

Front Struts

  • Step 1:
Locate both Front Right Height Sensors and disconnect them from the vehicles wiring harness.

  • Step 2:
    Connect the Ride Height Simulators.

  • Step 3:
Connect OBD/SS Classic to the OBD Port or wait till the Rear Simulators are installed if you are replacing Rear Shocks as well.

Rear Shocks

  • Step 1:
Locate both Rear Right Height Sensors and disconnect them from the vehicles wiring harness.

  • Step 2:
    Connect the Ride Height Simulators.

  • Step 3:
Connect OBD/SS Classic to the OBD Port or wait till the Front Simulators are installed if you are replacing Front Struts as well.

  • Step 4 (Rear Air Auto Level):
Reroute Air Lines for Auto Leveling to operate correctly.
