MagneRide Delete Module (OBD-Based Shock Simulator)

The OBD/SS Classic is a MagneRide delete module for 2015-2020 GM vehicles equipped with Magnetic Ride Control (RPO Z95). It is built for applications where the factory electronic dampers are coming out and conventional shocks or coilovers are going in, without the suspension warnings, diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs), and speed limiter that a MagneRide delete sets off. We do not sell shocks, so you are free to pick whatever brand and valving fits your build.

The module works as an OBD-based shock simulator, communicating directly on the vehicle CAN network to suppress the MagneRide shock DTCs that appear once the factory magnetic dampers are unplugged or removed. Because the logic stays inside the vehicle, there are no external resistors, no exposed hardware under the chassis, and no calibration or ride height trim procedure.

The Classic suppresses MagneRide shock DTCs only. It does not suppress Autoride, Automatic Level Control (ALC) Module, or Ride Height Sensor (RHS) codes. If the vehicle is lifted or lowered and the ride height sensors cannot be reconnected, our Ride Height Simulators are required.

On 2015-2020 SUVs the rear air leveling stays on the vehicle. The Classic is the right module when you are replacing the front MagneRide dampers and leaving the rear air shocks and the compressor in place and working. If you plan on towing, we strongly recommend keeping the rear air shocks and replacing only the fronts.

If you want the air system gone as well, that is the OBD/SS Apex. It is built for the same 2015-2020 GM SUVs with RPO Z95 to emulate the Suspension Control Module (SCM), so the MagneRide dampers, the rear air shocks, the compressor, and the lines can all come off the vehicle. The Apex also covers ride height, so no Ride Height Simulators are needed even if the vehicle is lifted or lowered.

Lifetime Warranty

OBD-Based MagneRide Shock Simulation

The OBD/SS Classic functions as an OBD-based shock simulator, suppressing MagneRide shock faults when factory electronic shocks are removed.

Direct CAN Network Communication

The module communicates directly on the vehicle CAN network, keeping suspension logic satisfied without external hardware.

No External Resistors or Harness Mods

All electronics remain inside the vehicle, eliminating exposed resistors, underbody wiring, and common failure points.

No Calibration or Trim Procedures

Installation requires no scan tool, ride height trim, or post-install calibration.

Power-Efficient Design

Draws 27mA awake and 8mA asleep. The module sleeps 5 seconds after the CAN bus goes quiet, so it will not drain your battery.

Clean MagneRide Delete Solution

The OBD/SS Classic is a plug-and-play MagneRide delete for GM owners removing the factory magnetic shocks. It connects to the OBD-II port and does its work on the vehicle network, so there is nothing to mount, tap, or calibrate.

Silence the MagneRide fault codes and the speed limiter

The Classic satisfies the Suspension Control Module (SCM) so the "Service Suspension" message, the DTCs, and the speed limiter that comes with them stay off.

No more 80 MPH limiter

When the SCM logs a missing MagneRide shock, GM caps vehicle speed. The Classic keeps that fault from setting, so the limiter never engages.

Products works great. First bypass cable I received was faulty. Contacted Shock Sims and it was replaced immediately. Communication and further instructions were excellent. Helped me diagnose any problem I had and loaned me a scan tool to help pinpoint my issues.

Install Guides

Quick Start Guide

  • Step 1:
Plug the OBD/SS Classic into the vehicles OBDII Port.

Quick Start Guide with Ride Height Sensors

If you are modifying your vehicle's height, you may no longer be able to reconnect the factory ride height sensors. You can replace just the Front Struts or the Rear Shocks or both. If you decide to replace either later on, you can leave the OBD/SS Classic connected.

Front Struts

  • Step 1:
Locate both Front Right Height Sensors and disconnect them from the vehicles wiring harness.

  • Step 2:
    Connect the Ride Height Simulators.

  • Step 3:
Connect OBD/SS Classic to the OBD Port or wait till the Rear Simulators are installed if you are replacing Rear Shocks as well.

Rear Shocks

  • Step 1:
Locate both Rear Right Height Sensors and disconnect them from the vehicles wiring harness.

  • Step 2:
    Connect the Ride Height Simulators.

  • Step 3:
Connect OBD/SS Classic to the OBD Port or wait till the Front Simulators are installed if you are replacing Front Struts as well.
